When MicrobiologyOpen is going to launch its first issue?
MicrobiologyOpen will publish continuously, meaning that as soon as an article is accepted and formatted for publication it’s posted online in EarlyView. To enhance user experience we will compile these articles into regular issues. MicrobiologyOpen is set to launch its first issue March 2012.
Thanks. What do you expect about its impact factor? For example, Microbiology has current impact factor 2.957. Microbiology Open will be better than Microbiology?
MicrobiologyOpen is a new open access journal that has just been launched. Because of this, it does not yet have an impact factor, but we will begin the process to be listed by the Web of Science and have an impact factor calculated as soon as possible. It is difficult to predict what the impact factor will be, but the journal has partnered with several of Wiley’s other top journals in the field that will refer papers to MicrobiologyOpen, and the average impact factor of those journals is approximately 3.05.
Please I want to know if you have calculated the MicrobiologyOpen impact factor ?
Dear Raman,
Thanks for your comment. As you may be aware, indexing in ISI is subject to acceptance by their review committee, a process which is neither especially quick nor straightforward. MicrobiologyOpen is still only a very young journal, but we submitted our application for indexing to ISI last year and look forward to hearing from them in due course. We have not calculated a ‘virtual impact factor’ at this stage as we have not had the usual 2 year window since launch for papers to be cited so this would not provide us with accurate data at this stage.
thanks, Catherine
Dear Catherine,
Thanks. When do you expect having the answer of the ISI
best regardes
Dear Raman,
We would hope to hear later in 2013 if we will receive a 2013 impact factor (which would be calculated in 2014). However, we are not sure at this stage whether the application will be successful. Thanks for your interest in this.
Catherine
Please if I submit an article in your newspaper, in what time I can have the decision of the editor ?
Dear Sophie,
Thanks for getting in touch. Each of the Wiley Open Access journals has a different editorial team so it would be most helpful if you could advise which publication you are interested in submitting to so I can give you the details from the editorial office of that publication. Or, if you aren’t sure which journal, if you could advise about your subject area of research then I could recommend the most appropriate one.
Thanks, Catherine
Dear Catherine
If I want to submit in microbiologyopen
Thanks
Dear Sophie,
For papers submitted directly to MicrobiologyOpen, we aim offer all authors a first decision within 1 month. For papers transferred from other Wiley journals with previous peer review comments, this time is significantly reduced, as our Editor will try to make a decision based on the previous comments, without sending for further review.
Best regards, Ruth
Is it already known whether MicrobiologyOpen will be indexed in the ISI WoK? If so, will be covered from the first issue? many thank sin advance.
Dear Andrés
We submitted an application for ISI at the end of 2012 and are awaiting the response about whether we will be indexed. The first we might hear about this confirmation would be by December 2013. If we were accepted at that point we would receive the first impact factor in June 2014, going back to issue 1. However, this will be dependent on a positive verdict from ISI.
thanks, Catherine
Thanks a lot, Catherine, and success!
Hi there, is there any news about the MicrobiologyOpen impact factor?
Hi Charlotte
Thanks for your query.
Microbiology Open was accepted for indexing on ISI a couple of months ago. Unfortunately this wasn’t in time for this year’s impact factors, so we will have a while longer to wait for its first impact factor.
Hi~ I’d like to know this journal’s(MicrobiologyOpen) impact factor,
If you have not calculated the impact factor until now, how soon will I know about its first impact factor?
Hello, and thank you for your query.
MicrobiologyOpen was accepted for indexing by ISI a couple of months ago. Unfortunately this wasn’t in time for this year’s impact factors, so we will have to wait until next year’s impact factors are released now.
Thanks, Helen.
Hi, at this stage, do you have any idea what MicrobiologyOpen impact factor will be?
Thanks.
Dear Alaa
Thank you for your query. MicrobiologyOpen was accepted for indexing by ISI a few months ago, but unfortunately this was just out of time for this years impact factors. This means that we will now have to wait for next year’s impact factors to be released.
