New Account Deal for Imperial College London

July 25, 2012

Imperial College LondonImperial College London is the latest organization to sign up for a Wiley Open Access Account and pay for its researchers to publish an open access article with Wiley.  Authors affiliated with Imperial College London can publish research articles in Wiley Open Access journals and/or OnlineOpen, without directly paying any publication charges.  When Authors submit to a Wiley Open Access journal or opt for OnlineOpen they need to state their affiliation to Imperial and their authorisation code.

Imperial joins a number of funders who have opened a Wiley Open Access Account since this was launched earlier this year. Browse our listing to see the institutions / funders who have an account or partnership with Wiley Open Access.

    Dear Wiley,

Did Imperial College realise when they signed this agreement that WileyOpenAccess [sic] does not offer CC BY Open Access (open access as per the BOAI-definition of the word).

Given that publicly-funded UK researchers will soon be compelled to publish in only CC BY Open Access journals I find this arrangement curious.

May I suggest WileyOpenAccess switch away from CC-BY-NC as you state that you use here:

to a properly BOAI-compliant open access licence that other reputable open access publishers like PLoS and BMC use – the Creative Commons Attribution Licence (CC BY)

      Dear Ross,
Thank you for your timely note. We are considering our options for open access licensing arrangements at the moment, so it’s useful to hear the views of the wider community. I recognise that you have given us this feedback before via twitter.
      best wishes,
